So I've noticed that for the number of hours I'm scheduled, the number is higher than the actual number that says my total hours worked. So say I work 4 hours Monday and Tuesday, 8 hours Wednesday, and 8 hours Friday, my total hours should say 24 hours. However the total number of hours would say 23. Also, say I'm scheduled for an 8 hour shift, underneath where it says total hours worked says 7.5, but on another 8 hour shift scheduled the same week it says a total of 8 hours worked. Does this have something to do with the breaks you get during your shifts?
If youre schedule is something like 7 - 330 E schedule will say it's an 8 hour shift but its really an 8 1/2 hr shift. It accounts for your 30 minute lunch you dont get paid for. Youre suppose to get a lunch after a 6.5 hr shift.
I clock out for breaks. One 15 minute break every 4 hours. I was never told about a 30 minute lunch after 6.5 hours. Just to go on break when I had worked 4 hours. The shift I have from 1-9 pm says 7.5 hours total, but the 11-7pm shift says 8 hours. I'm assuming they have factored in the lunch on the 1-9 shift.
Your schedule maker is suppose to give you a 8.5 hour shift for a full 8 hours of time worked because of the lunch. I always get a shift ending with a 30 because of my lunch. (ex. 9 am - 5:30 pm). But yeah they have to give you a lunch after 6.5 but not at a 6 hour time because the .5 is your 30 min lunch period. Some people will just give you another break instead of a 30 min lunch at 6 hour though. it's confusing i guess lol
Not every store schedules lunches. I work an 8 hour shift and don't take a lunch break. It's not required here.
I always take my lunch so I can get out of the store. The labor laws in Kentucky say they have to give you a lunches and breaks. Some people skip their lunches but apparently the store can get in trouble if it happens too often. What's strange about the OP's post is sometimes they're scheduled a lunch and sometimes they're not. That makes no sense at all. You either schedule a lunch, when appropriate, for every day or you don't schedule a lunch for every day.
if you stay on break for 24mins the system will penalize you for an extra 15 mins but will pay you for the first 15 mins. Maybe you've been taking extended breaks or lunches?

Only if they are under the same contract as you. My contract is different. We get a 30 minute paid lunch if we work 7 hours. Under 7 hours we get a 15 minute paid break.

They only have to offer a lunch. If you're over 18 I don't think you *have* to take one.
