In the deli at my store we have one of those new ovens that cooks whole chickens in 45 minutes. As the powers that be love to constantly tell us, it cost over $15,000.00. Well in the 2 years since we got it breaks down every few months and hasn't worked right in over 6 months. There is a grease collector hooked to it we are supposed to empty every few days but the drainage on the thing hasn't worked right since we got it. Several electronic components have been replaced yet it consistently breaks down.
We have one slicer that has an automatic setting where the carriage will go back and forth on its own which hasn't worked for over 2 years, and the last time that broke down it took over 6 months to get it fixed. It still slices regularly but Kroger will not pay to get it fixed back to original condition.
And to top it off we just got new self checkouts. They replaced all the hardware yet kept the same software. Haven't even had the things a month and a card reader on one has went down.
We've been working on remodeling the outside of our store and management made the bright idea to cut off the place where we push the carts and make it super dangerous for people to park on that side of the lot. Customers have been trained to bring their carts up to that area because we had railing there and now it's gone..... smooth move corporate.
