Super Krogers

Hi, I'm a bagger at a Super Kroger and we're finally making the switch from furniture to apparel. I have a few questions

1. How bad will go-backs get? At my store the CC's do go-backs and not the departments like I've heard happens at other stores.

2. Do the customers like the apparel more than furniture? At my store we're in an area with several clothing stores but not a lot of furniture stores so it actually makes more sense for us to carry furniture. The customers I've talked to hate the idea of clothing instead of furniture.

3. What are some other horror stories of Super Krogers?

The move from furniture to apparel in marketplace stores was because people who shop for furniture usually shop once, then they are done for a long while. People always buy clothes so that will allow for more continuous revenues & making it more consistent & predictable. Not to mention it gives reason for customers to shop more often = more associated purchases = more overall revenues. It wouldn't make sense for them to offer furniture in just a select few stores, they wouldn't have the same buying power or distributive capabilities which would mean higher costs that would be passed onto customers.

Is this going to happen to all kroger marketplaces? I'd rather get a discount for clothes than for furniture (which I never buy)

 From what I hear, yes.

DeltaGrocery, I get what you're saying about people buying more clothing. I just wish that we weren't going in the same direction as Walmart all the time. Especially at my store.

We just finished remodeling the new store to be a Kroger MarketPlace and originally, they decided not to have a Little Clinic. Then the Wal-Mart down the road put in a clinic, and we go and add one as well.

There are a few things I wouldn't mind being the same as Wal-Mart, like having one of those motorized buggy pushers or having the departments come up and get their go-backs at certain times of the day. But we seem to be following in our local Wal-Mart's footsteps.

Oh fun, we're starting to get rid of our furniture finally. I don't mind much since hopefully it'll mean that there will be less furniture stacked at the front end during the sales.
