I've heard that several stores are being threatened with write ups for department heads for out of stocks. Is this allowed? What about stores with unions?

How in the hell can they keep the shelves stocked when they are up front on the register?  I used to hear my name paged and I would look at the time on my cell phone and start my time.  After I left the register I would return to the work I was doing and record my return time.  I kept a log.  I know they can tell how long you are logged on a register but walking back and forth, getting caught by customers, etc. takes time too.  I was prepared for the day when they said "you were only on the register 30 minutes".  Well, 30 minutes in several trips back and forth and back and forth eats up time.  I would sign on the register and do a no sale 99 then again before I logged off.  I kept every dang register tape with times, and a log in a little notebook.

They knew it.  They never said a word to me about work not getting done.  So they want to write up the department head?  Oh hell no.

I can understand if dept heads are not ordering. HOWEVER.......... If dept heads are being summoned to the front, how the hell can they order? It's STUPID to write up a dept head for not ordering and having out of stocks if they are called up front all the time.
