Maybe you could get a doctor's note if it is a health issue for you.  You could always tell them you need to go to the bathroom and then get a drink out of the water fountain.

They didnt seem to mind when I asked a manager for a coke when we had a bunch of call outs for front end one day. I was the only real cashier other than the supervisor and i asked the manager for a coke.. he bought me one lol

Because of all the electronics at the register, as well as papers. That said, most of them, as long as your water bottle is sealed with a cap, won't care. We have half our cashiers keeping water at the register in a bottle, as well as fans plugged in.

I brought a space heater in the winter.  Kept my toes toasty!

More so the customers. We use to be able to keep water at our checkstands. Until customers started to bitch about it. Well because management just said "ok" to appease them, and not make checkers loose the water, the customers bitched to corporate who did a surprise, unannounced visit and they "helped" us by removing the waters for us. : /

Why would customers even care unless the cashiers were drinking water during an order, or if there were spills? Probably some old biddy whining about how it makes the store look unprofessional, back in my day cashiers stood still for eight hours and were thankful for it or some such BS. That said I hate spineless management much more than the occasional dumb customer.

At our store we keep water bottles so long as they've got a receipt attached, heck, one of our outside baggers has a gallon of water underneath the bagging stand so he can drink whenever he wants. Dunno that we're technically allowed to, but the front end leaders certainly don't care, and management never complained (yet).

If you can't go 2 hours without drinking water there might be something wrong with you. Seriously, if you're dying of thirst just tell someone.

2 hours is not a problem, but when your working a 8 hours shift with 1 30 minute break its a little tough!  And BTW we can't just leave to go go a drink anytime we please. FYI.

But it's totally okay for members of management to walk around with Starbucks coffee/energy drinks, right? It must be, because I see them do it pretty frequently. Hypocrisy and Kroger go hand-in-hand.

Like everything else at Kroger, different rules apply to different people. I see in the morning after clocking in, certain employees head straight to Starbucks to grab a drink before going to their department and I know one file maintenance clerk that always has a sports drink/something else on her cart while hanging tags/doing scans. Rules are selectively enforced and that's another reason why so many employees give this company the middle finger and go get another job.

We are allowed to have bottled water at our registers, and as a matter of fact, our cultural council provides it to us free........ Must be a store by store thing.
