i am starting to suspect that the only reason i'm floor sup. is because no one else will do it. also i got a horrible management relief up on a giant power trip. she takes over when i'm trying to floor she put me on a lane all day plus for some weird reason her husband is always there if she works 1130 till 8 he's there like noon til 730 its creepy. she yells at me if i even glance at the schedule on the clipboard that im suppose to look at. also she tells me during the middle of a rush that i'm too slow and that i shouldn't care if a customers eggs and bread get smashed and broken also i have no one bagging for me so im trying to not break on squash things (baggers are bagging for the other lanes but there is only two of them and there the slowest baggers). I have a new 16 yr old cashier training on a small lane an 18 yr old on main lane a flower girl on big lane who's 19 and the manager relief starts yelling at me for being to slow in front of the customers. then she make me watch not allowed to bag for her while she starts an order throws every thing down the belt a watermelon flatens someones bread. then tell me i should cashier like that. i get 40 hrs a week and 35 extra cents an hr but it might not be worth it. but i don't want to step down.

Next time she yells at you politely and calmly say "if you would like to discuss my job performance, I would like to have my union representative present". As far as her husband hanging around every day, I would report that to Kroger on the hotline. That's just wrong.

It would probably be easier just to give her lip service while she's there then ignore everything she says when she's gone. Some managers just don't have realistic expectations.

Sounds like the old co-manager at my old store. She smooshed my uncles bread, eggs, and peaches by throwing things down the belt when I watched because I was "too slow." My uncle said "welp, I'm gonna get the items that were smooshed, and instead of $25.00, here's $20.00. He paid and left, leaving a VERY LIVID co manager staring in utter shock. (The smooshed items would have added the total to $25.00, but he decided to help himself to free items, the ones smooshed and walk out the door). Oh, that co-manager was PISSED.

So your advice is to continue to allow this manager to yell at the OP & smash customers bread? First off, if the manager isn't there, it's easy to "ignore" her yelling isn't it? But I guarantee you the first customer that complains about smashed bread that manager is going to lie and deny ever coaching OP in such behavior.
I can't not believe you posted this response BagBoy, but yet, there it is!

Can't not. Well oops! I should have left that for the spell checkers to gripe about lol!

I never said to just smash the bread, though. I said to "give lip service". Yes, ma'am. I understand. Thank you. I'll do better next time. Stuff like that.
When dealing with arrogant managers it's best to try and kiss their ass with simple yes-man answers then ignore what they tell you since it's not going to work anyway.
Sighing and rolling your eyes or fighting with them will only lead to a more hostile response from them, toward you. That's the road to getting fired.
If all she's doing is saying to ignore the items and just scan them it's not such a super serious topic to get into a fight about. A bagger should be paying attention to that sort of stuff anyway. :P
I'm not saying the manager is right... i'm just saying that the proper way to handle it is to just say "okay" and move on. /nod

I for one agree with Bag Boy, it isn't anyone's "job" to change another person. Arguing with someone who acts like OP's manager, well it's only going to make them dig in their heels and start rationalizing their behavior... now the part about them husband milling around, yeah my limit would be 15 -20 minutes, then I'd gripe! How can someone manage while they're hanging out with hubby. Those two need to save it for later!
