So, I am in a bit of an emergency situation and need to move from the town I work in ASAP. I want to put in my two weeks still, but I have a week of vacation time coming. If I put it in a week before my scheduled vacation, will I still get that pay or do I forfeit it? Would it be best for me to do my two weeks after? Doable in this situation but not preferred.
Depends on your state's laws and union rules. In my state a company does not have to reimburse vacation time if an employee quits, but my union contract does say that Kroger has to.
I quit without notice and got my vacation pay. I called corporate about it and they said the only reason I would not get it is if I was fired for theft.

Generally speaking, if you are up front with management about the situation, they'll go to greater lengths to help you out. In most cases vacation pay has to be paid out anyway (since it's earned time), but giving some notice or at least a polite explanation goes a long way.
