minimum wage increase' effect on payrate

the city I live and work in is considering raising the minimum wage

to anyone who's encountered this: is it probable that my pay rate won't be affected since I already make above the prospective minimum?

I don't think YOUR WAGE will go up unless your city's minimum wage is higher than it. When the union negotiates the next contract they will likely re-calibrate wages to make up for this.

AKA minimum wage gets bumped by $2.00, and your wage goes up $0.20

I'll give an example of what happened after my last min wage increase. I was making 8.15 at the time when, min was 7.25. the min increased to 8.10 and I went up to 8.55. That's probably what you can expect.

The wages at Kroger are very pitiful. I wouldn't expect anything right away, and a tiny increase next contract. After all, they are having to pay a higher minimum... they'll want it back so Rodney McMullen can still afford a new golden-plated back massager.
