I went into my local Kroger today to get a few items and when I got home I checked my receipt to make sure I got the sale price on an item.  I normally do this before I leave the store, but today I didn't.  Anyway, I didn't use my Kroger card.  The cashier never asked for it and I didn't use it.  Nobody's fault really, just happens sometimes.  I understand.  I decided to go ahead and go back to the store so they could make an adjustment.  That's where the trouble started.

The girl told me to enter my alternate ID so I did.  I got a refund of $2.98 on my card.  I was on my way out the door when I realized I had bought 3 Dr. Pepper 12 packs, which I should have received $6.00 back on.  Back to the customer service desk so I could get my $6.00.  They wrang up $4.99 each, but were on sale 3 for $9.00, so she gave me $6.00.  Ok.  I'm leaving again and then I'm thinking, what else didn't I get the discount on?  Plus my 10 percent senior discount wasn't refunded.  By this time she was getting argumentative with me and refused to give me my senior discount.  She said I had to call corporate, they wouldn't give one at the store.  Ok.  (This isn't true, they do.)

Went home called corporate, they said no, go back to the store and tell her she has to do it there.  So back to the store I go.  I told the girl what corporate said, and she told me "Well you have to give back that $6.00 for the Dr. Peppers!  They were 3 for $9 and I gave you $6.00 back and you have to return that!  By this time I'm really mad, but calmly explained that I paid $15 for them, they were $9, and I was keeping the $6 that SHE OWED ME!  I then explained that Dr. Pepper had nothing to do with my senior discount because Dr. Pepper isn't a Kroger brand product.  She then proceeded to call the MANAGER. Well I got my discount, and I'm still not sure what else I didn't get refunded right for but I will NEVER shop without that dang card again LOL!  She actually gave me that $6 that she, herself, figured out the refund on, then had the nerve to treat me like I was in there trying to scam her!

Oh, forgot, when I got home I had to call the store and get corporates phone number.  She kept asking if there was anything she could help me with over and over and I had to keep saying I just want corporate phone number.  Then she gave me a local phone number.  I told her no, Kroger's corporate number is an 800 or 877 number.  Then she started saying it was printed soooo small she couldn't read it.  So I told her give me the phone number on the back of the Kroger card.  She finally gave it to me but I had to make her repeat it three times because the first time she didn't give me enough numbers, the second time she said it so fast I couldn't write it down.  Finally the third time I made her tell me, then I repeated it back to make sure because all of the sudden she was talking so quiet I couldn't hear her.  What a "B".  She knew she was wrong and she knew she was in trouble.  Fine.  She just dug herself deeper in the hole as far as I'm concerned.

Anyway, I had a talk with one of the managers when I got back home and he told me she was from another store, there helping out.  No telling what she did wrong with other customers today.  I just worked for Kroger and I worked in the service center so I kinda know how it's supposed to be.  I didn't tell her that though.  The manager "R" told me next time I was in to find him and he would make it up to me.

Forgot, she also wouldn't give me my receipt, she said I had it.  I told her no, I gave it to you so you could see what needed to be refunded and I want it. She argued and argued with me so that's another thing.

If I would have treated someone like that I would have been yanked in the office, yelled at, written up, and then treated like crap for about a week LOL!

No, not old.  Used another family members card.  Senile?  No.  Nobody in my family is.  Thanks for your immature input, isn't it past your bedtime?

From someone who works as a customer service clerk in a different division of Kroger, I apologize or the horrible customer service you received.

You really should have just took the hit after you got the money back, but since you insisted on getting your 5% or w/e you should have had her call for a manager the moment she started giving you lip. It seems like a lot of hassle for such a small return >_>

The CS person should have done a better job and your cashier should have asked for the card in the first place and none of this would have happened lol

Well it's a 10% discount and it does add up or I really wouldn't have bothered.  Thing is, I was right, she was argumentative and rude so I just felt like getting what was owed me.   I know the manager said he would make it right but I'm not worried about getting anything extra so I'm not going to say anything else.

While I agree that the customer service rep was kind of unprofessional, this would've irritated me a little as well. You're under 60, why should you get a senior citizen discount in the first place, let alone demand a refund for it?

Honestly you sound like one of those soccer moms whose primary vocabulary in grocery stores is "Let me speak to your manager/corporate", instead of letting an incident go and just remembering to scan your card correctly in the first place.

Yeah, this board is really for employees to vent, not customers to complain about Kroger.

I can use that card.  My husband had the senior discount then when I went to work for Kroger and they changed it to an employee discount.  I left Kroger and they changed it back to the senior discount.  It's not that big of a deal if the employee knows how to do it.  This girl didn't and she argued with me not only about that discount but the price of my other groceries.  The cashier forgot to ask for my card, I forgot to use it.  No big deal until the girl in customer service decided to make it one.  I still paid too much for some of the groceries but I'm letting that go.  The manager said he would take care of it next time I was in, but I'm letting it go.  Right off the bat I noticed almost $20 in savings I didn't get so yes, I did want them to correct it.

As far as asking to speak to a manager, I never do that.  They are busy and I don't waste anybody's time over nitpicky things.  I'm not a soccer mom never have been.  My girls were cheerleaders and I did drive my van and had acrylic nails and my diamond tennis bracelet lol!

Not an employee anymore.  I'll stay here if I want.  There are a lot of people on this forum who no longer work for Kroger and still post here.  Maybe you should find another forum if this is not to your liking.  I don't do facebook.

First, I wasn't using someone else's card.  Second, it didn't get rejected.  Third, I didn't bitch or complain, I simply asked for the discount.  Kroger's corporate office said I could have it so I'm not sure why you are so angry.  I didn't try to bitch and get away with anything.  That was the customer service clerk's way of handling it, not mine.  She was the one that called the manager because she thought I was scamming her on those Dr. Peppers lol!

 What.

So what.  I had a card, remembered I got another one when I started working there.  It's a card me and my husband both use.  Quit nitpicking the crap out of this.  My husbands card is the same as my card is the same as his card.  Get over it!  Truth be told -   we use the alternate ID, always.  So there - NO CARD.

It's like do you ask the customer "do you have your Kroger card" and they give you their phone number.  SAME DANG THING!

First of all there is a difference between using the account you and your husband would share, which would make it your account, and by your own words "another family member's card". Sounds to me you wanted a discount for something you really weren't entitled to. You know why corporate said you could have the discount? TO SHUT YOU UP.

Yeah, they said it and now they're backtracking.

It's not nitpicking to assume by another family member's card you meant exactly what you said.

Well I used my husband's card who is another family member.  So that's the card we use with the senior discount.  Sorry if you think I'm not entitled to use it but in our district family members are allowed to use the same card.  The call to corporate was pleasant and she did side with me about getting the sale price and the discount.  I've also worked at that store and have done it many times for customers so I did as I was told.  I was entitled to the discount.  Sorry if this pisses you off but that's Kroger policy.  The only one keeping this going is you because you keep trying to twist things around.  Don't you have some posts to spell check? LOL!
