Pharmacy Clerk

Hello everyone!

My name is Rachel. I recently started working for Kroger as a Pharmacy Clerk, although I haven't started my training yet. I am still doing the CBL's (about eighteen hours worth!), but I haven't worked in a while and I am a little bit nervous. I am not really sure what my duties would be or what I can and cannot do. I tried asking my assistant manager about it, but it always comes out so unclear that leaves me confused. I am wondering if there are any other Pharmacy Clerks here who can tell me about the position. :)

With me, no one really told me what to do when I started working, I was just watching others and asked hundreds of questions if I didn't know something. Have a notebook with you to write down new things so you won't have to ask 10 times about the same thing.

My duties are: ringing up prescriptions, entering scripts in a computer, counting pills, preparing deliveries and mail, answering the phone, making sure the pharmacists have plenty of bags, hanging filled bags on a rack, calling insurance if there's a problem, entering vaccinations in a computer, adding new insurance, putting back meds that people don't pick up.

You need to be able to multitask and it's a fast pace environment, I rarely have time to go to a bathroom for the whole shift, although if I mention that I really need to go my pharmacist always say GO NOW, lol.

We are not allowed to sit, you stand up all the time.

Good luck!

Forgot to say what you can not do as a technician/clerk, you can not advise customers about meds. You can go find something for them that's over the counter, but if they ask you about side effects or drugs interactions or about directions on how to use something, ask the pharmacist to help them.

Why don't you finish your CBL's and see if some of your questions are answered by your training?
