Anyway I've been trying to clean up my department and doing so I've been looking for outdates on cigarettes, I'm thinking this should be a drug gm job right? I don't know I feel like I'm getting under paid for something that I shouldn't be doing..any input would be great especially from other fuel leads

Are you a Fuel lead or a Fuel Department manager? What state are you in? You should get some kind of pay hike. Not much but it should help.
I would have never thought of checking dates on cigarettes. Sort of like checking dates on beer.
Who stocks the cigs in your cube? Why are they expiring? Who is not rotating them?
If you think you are getting underpaid for checking dates, then you have it backwards. It is easy to do and should go quick.
IMHO, it is not worth starting a pissing match with Drug GM over.
As for being a lead and being underpaid for all the tasks you are expected to do in 7.5 hours or less, welcome to Kroger.
I work in Drug/gm at my store and I am in charge of pulling all items other than vendors for the fuel center. At our store our fuel center check dates every morning especially on the tobacco. We work in retail, checking dates is just part of the job. Being out in the fuel center doesn't change that. You have numerous things at the fuel center that expire from Candy, Cigarettes, tobacco, even the vendors items like snacks and drinks expire. And we all know they don't always rotate. If you are receiving out of dates from inside the store when they bring the mimik report then I would have a conversation with the Drug/gm department but if its because no one is rotating in the kiosk you have only yourself to look at.
at my store drug/gm does not do anything with cigarettes. me and the two other people who work front end 3rd shift stock and order them; I normally do the returns. we don't have a gas station, but our liquor store people take care of theirs.
make sure you and anyone else who stocks the cigarettes and dip are rotating (as in stocking them from the back) them. if you do then the majority of them will never go out of date, and for your less sellers all you have to do is check the front ones.
GM also does not do the checklane candy at our store, I guess they have us do it because GM has too much other work to do and we would not have enough cleaning and customers to fill an 8 hour shift otherwise. it's been that way since I started there years ago. used to be the same with diapers- they're technically GM, but grocery always worked them, that is until our store remodeled, did away with the nutrition section and integrated all that stuff into the regular aisles and now has grocery do it. I guess it just depends on your store, if they delegate that work to you, then it's your job

At our store the front end gets hours to do front end candy and cigarettes, but with management cutting so many hours and scheduling below minimal cashiers needed, the front end never stocks anything. In fact when I am up front stocking it, I end up bagging groceries because their is only 1 courtesy clerk scheduled for 3 registers opened. We are a Million dollar a week store in District O, Georgia. Not 1 department can get anything done because we are constantly on the front end for some reason. Bagging or running registers. I just don't understand how our department is constantly up over 20% from last year and forecasted but hours are always being cut.
I'm a fuel lead myself, in Nevada at one of the Smith's stores. Our fuel center just opened last year and I was originally hired as just a regular fuel clerk until the hired lead quit 3 weeks later and I got stuck with it. Anyway, myself and the other clerks check dates on all the products every week, and our biggest problem is that our non foods department rarely checks dates on the tobacco a lot of times we end up with over 7 holes on our shelf. I do the mimik everyday and bring all expired/damaged product into the store because I can't rely on any of the other managers to help out it with. I completely understand the frustration. I only make $11.10 and that's maxed out at my store. Just thought I'd tell you my story.
