Does Kroger purchase their own Forklift or do they lease them?  Anyone have any information?  Forklift specs, usage, and etc

I think they purchase them.

We use a power pallet jack and straddle stackers at the stores.  I have never seen a store with a forklift.

Power jacks are used to unload trucks and move heavy pallets around.  A straddle stacker is used to un stack pallets.  There are times that it would be nice to have access to a forklift tho.  The warehouse uses forklifts to load the trucks and to get the pallet off the truck, we need to be able to do the reverse.  Occasionally, I have had to restack entire pallets just to get the truck unloaded.  I had two water pallets parked sideways next to each other.  There was a broken piece of wood from a pallet causing them to be locked together.  The only way to get the pallets off was to restack one of the water pallets.

I have heard a manager say they are not allowed to purchase a power pallet jack unless it is a new store.  To replace a battery costs $6k plus.  So, they have to replace a cell at a time unless most of them are fried.

I do think they use an outside company to do repairs.

Definitely purchase. There are some lifts in the stores that are 30 years old.

Yup, purchased. It's also Kroger techs that come in and work on them, unless it's something that they must contract out to someone else for some specialized repairs.

That's a rather odd question.  Are you in the business of selling or leasing forklifts?

 Probably. Forklifts and forklift accessories.
