Lateral Moves?

I'd like to switch departments, don't much like the work I'm doing presently. But my store doesn't post the positions I'm interested in, wtf?! I've tried speaking to managers and am getting nowhere. Now I've resorted to applying through Kroger.com to other stores for positions I am interested in. How do I get into a job I will like?

You might try visiting with department heads/leads and back-ups.

If you are part time, ask if you can pick up a shift in dairy, produce, or your other departments of interest.  Four hours should come easier than going full monty.

Well that's certainly a consideration. Apparently CVS is part of the same Union, so I don't think I will lose my initiation fees.

Thanks for the insight. I have spoken to a couple so far, one even wanted to take me! But the store manager was upset I want out of my department, then the offer mysteriously dried up.

Maybe you're not any good at your current job and no other department wants you. I mean c'mon, is there a single department in the entirety of The Kroger Co. that isn't understaffed?
