Kroger is doing the same thing, 2 stores here are closing. One hasn't made a profit since 2006, and the other hasn't officially been announced but only do around 250k a week, but they will be building a large, potentially marketplace store within 10 miles starting this year.

Yep but you won't hear about that in the union bought news.

(Amazing how powerful these unions are. Must be why Krogrr pays $7.65/hour.)
Legit? For what off-the-street job does Walmart pay $17?
$17.00 an hour might be with experience pay factored in. I know that before Walmart raised wages, the Walmarts in my area had "Now Hiring" signs plastered everywhere on a regular basis, much like Kroger still does, and even then, Walmart was advertising (I believe) up to $15.00 an hour with experience. I know someone that I used to work with at Kroger that was making $8.55 even after several years as a cashier/supervisor, and Walmart hired him at $13.75 because of his experience. Walmart's Vision Center positions pay around $17.00, but that's not a position just anybody off the street can come in and work. I believe there are positions at Walmart that will start you off between $15.00-$17.00 if you have the experience (especially if you were a department head/department manager at another retail store or if you have certain certificates/training), but if you're just applying to be a produce or deli clerk or a cashier or something, you're not going to be making $17.00 starting off... unless you live in North Dakota near a certain Walmart, lol: http://dailysignal.com/2014/06/10/drilling-innovation-forcing-walmart-north-dakota-pay-17-40-hour/

Probably store manager.
I know that's a joke, but walmart store managers make bank. Their bonuses are larger than their salaries in most cases. 200k minimum for average stores.

They sure do. It's the assistant managers, personnel managers, and LP managers in Walmart that get shafted.
