Switching departments

I am the department head of the apparel department. They have me someone 2 weeks ago with full availability.. something I have been waiting for for a year now. The girl loves being in apparel and we love having her in apparel. Well the manager in produce just told me she was permanently taking her to produce because she needs someone in there department. She did not give the associate a choice nor did she tell the manager over apparel. So now I am understaffed. Is this allowed? Is there any way I can fight this? ??

i'm not sure what zone you're in or what your contract says, but as far as I'm concerned, another dept head can't just "take" whoever they want.  If that were the case, the any dept could select all the best employees for their dept.  We often joke with other department employees that we'd love to trade this guy for that guy or whatever.  Anyone who's worth their weight is unlikely to be moved as they're usually an asset to their dept.  The only instance where this isn't the case is with baggers.  Many employees start out as baggers and if they're deemed good enough and have the desire, they'll likely be put into a better position in another dept.  Bagging is also where all the dud employees land...and it's often the last chance before a lousy new hire is pushed out the door

Talk to your manager or union rep.  Sounds like the produce head is overstepping her bounds and/or taking advantage of you and your good situation

Is she 15? Does she have big titties? Is she hot? Does she know Daniellenicole? Can they move her over to the fuel center with Daniellenicole? You must provide us with this pertinent information.

Thanks I will definitely be calling the union first thing tomorrow. It would be different if the associate wanted to leave apparel but she doesn't. Apparel department is very miss treated at my store.
