The amount of training they give us is just plain sad they pretty much tell you figure it out on your own and then are shocked if you don't know something lol I have pretty much had to teach myself everything. I'm not a scanning coordinator otherwise I'd help you out sorry.

What all do you know so far?

For audits, make sure to scan the product, not the tag. If you're low on scan count by Friday, you can always scan a quick section like OTC or Shampoo to get the scan count for the day. Aim for 1700 audits a day for Monday, Thursday, and Friday (assuming your store requires 5000 scan audits a week). Scanning signs on Tuesdays and Wednesdays does count towards your scan audit too, so keep that in mind.

Making a tag is just ctrl+t. If a tag is really messy and needs to be replaced, but the price is correct, you can just use ctrl+o to order a tag.

To print out a report of how many scan audits you've done so far, go into SPA (I think it's SPA, at least. I'm tired and just got off work) and instead of going to Price Audit, go to Reports, then User Reports, and change the top date to Monday's date. Then just Function 5 to print it.

Also, make sure to walk the store and check for missing signs at the beginning and end of all of your Monday, Thursday, and Friday shifts.

Worst-case scenario if you can't figure something out, get the number to one of the other Kroger stores in your area and call their scan coordinator if you have questions. Most of them are understanding and remember what it was like to be thrown into it with little training.

I'm going to give you a rundown of some things (im also assuming your system is not radically different from ours) because you didn't specify what things you already know, so just ignore the stuff you already know ok :)

When you print your Sir (in store price changes) report in store, order it by date before you print it  and keep it cleaned up. See if you can get a copy of your SCAN Duties Manual, it tells you everything you are responsible for. I'm in the michigan division, but our duties include sign walks everyday including the two ad change days, news and notes twice a day and three on our ad change days, ad check on ad day, organizing the tags, getting the reset tags and strips ready for kompass, entering the kompass completion report into the computer, scan audits. If you order new sath strips you put them in yourself. It's control-I here. If you are in spa you can print a tag using Control-T like someone said, but when doing scan audits i usually use two sessions on the telxon with estp in one and spa in the other. Delete old estp batches and rename them so you can start a fresh batch if you do a new sign walk.

If you are making a lot of tags at once you can create a batch just like signs, just choose comtecs. Don't let the vendors and departments order you around. Everyone is busy, but so are you. If a department puts up a display they are responsible for signing and tagging it. I try to only go around once or twice a day. It's not laziness, it's proper time management. Running back and forth to make one new sign at a time will eat up your whole day.  At our store, the meat department, produce, bakery and deli all hang their own tags.

In my store, the scan coordinator is also the trouble shooter for the comtecs and the telxons and the main printers. If they cannot be fixed we call support and get an order number that allows us to send it back for repair or request a service visit.  Save your return boxes. Any other equipment, like deli scales or prices not being updated in the scales are not your responsibility. Instruct them to make their own service calls.

If you have a wine steward, they should (read:should) be doing an audit of their whole department once a week. This will help you reach your scan audit goals.

Other duties, checking the NOF report, calling support for urgent pricing issues, posting on the biway for non-urgent issues, ordering office supplies (the CSM also does this) sign stock, sign holders, tags and hopefully your front end team is keeping a list of all pricing issues and not-on-files for you to fix ASAP.

Get to know your most common links.  If something is seasonal and not scanning properly we put it on the same link as the other products, so that when it flips from 50% to 75% off it will automatically flip for you (hopefully)

Little things are going to come up and calling another scan coordinator nearby is sometimes your only option.  If you feel that you need a bit of training don't be afraid to talk to your CSM and/or email your Front End Coordinator to discuss the possibility of a little training if you need it. You can also go on yammer/yodel and join the scan coordinator group and get helpful advice there. Good luck.
