In Short: Customer Order Totaled (for example) $118.37 so customer gave me $120.00 and in the rush to excel I accidentally put in $12.00 (Enter) instead of $120.00 (Enter). How can I quickly and efficiently fix this? I'm not an idiot, but there's a lot of pressure at checkout and I'm not a wiz yet. I know I'm not the only Kroger cashier to run into this. I just want a seasoned cashier to tell me how to get out of this so I don't have to call a manager every time and hold up my customer. I absolutely want to work as independently as possible.
P.S. on a second note...can someone please give me the keystrokes necessary to remove a charge for produce when the cost of produce is set by weight (instead of quantity) after it's too late to use the void/enter solution. Thanks so much...
Just push Void, then Enter to undo it. If you can't (if it says Check Key Sequence), then you would just hit Void, then 1200, then Cash in that situation.
For the produce, make sure nothing is on your scale (it should read 0.00 lbs). Then type Void -> enter the code for the produce -> Enter, then it should ask for the weight. This is going to sound weird, but you need to enter 1 more than what the weight says on the computer. So if the weight says 1.12 pounds, then you would enter 113 into the register.
Just make sure you give them back the right change. As long as the net amount of money put into the register is equal to the amount of the sale, you're good to go. If the total is $7.00 and they give you a ten dollar bill, you would give them back $3.00. If you accidentally keyed in $100.00, you would still only give back $3.00. You do have to make sure you key in checks right though since the amount you key in is the amount that will be deducted from the customer's bank account.
