In regards to Kroger subsidaries, such as Fred Myers, etc. Do they share the same HR and HR computer system? That is, if you crossed one, have you crossed them all? Or are they separate entities with their own HR and employment record system?
They have different main frames connected to partially shared matrix-oriented browser ware, but beyond the regional conflux it's all part of the data base pipeline that allows one division to interact seamlessly with anywhere between three to five dozen similarly operating systems bi passing one another's semi-shared com link unit structures, simultaneously, along with an occasional south west divisional power surge that sometimes (like maybe once a quarter) erases data not backed up by Hong Kong's latest Cloud soft ware restoration units.
You can try to apply at another company in the Kroger family. You will have to put your former employer on the application. So, they can call and check if they are motivated. But, you know how well communication and motivation works in one store. Just imagine that being multiplied by every store in the Kroger family. What a catastrophic train wreck!!
So, in my humble opinion, there is a chance you would be hired by another company in the Kroger company if you burned bridges with the previous company.
I have seen it happen. High school kid was busy, made a poor choice and was let go for bad attendance. Put on no rehire list. He got rehired at same store under different management 2 years later. The store manager loved him. But, since he was getting early hours, someone filed a complaint with HR. The manager had to let him go due to the no rehire flag. Now, he works for the competition. In 3 years, he went from peon night stock clerk to basically a store co manager. He loves his job.

Lemme sum it up best this way:
Why make trouble for yourself? You want a new start with a new job with a clean slate.........it is amazingly easy to LIE AND FABRICATE former jobs, reference checks and even whole college degrees.
Listen, you need to look at it from HR's and management's perspective. Job filling is a major pain in the ass and all you have to do to get what you want is show and tell them what they want to see and hear. It's all on you, and just don't fk up!
People are gonna tell you 'don't listen to that sh!t', and that's your right......but I've personally made this all work for myself.
