I have been a PT (25-35 hrs a week) Produce clerk at my Kroger going on 5 years, while in College. I do everything except order: open, green rack, cut fruit, truck, floor, train, help with inventory,..etc. I recently just graduated and decided to start signing Assistant Head positions to work until I find my career job. I have been recommended by a plethora of management staff we have had over the years, and even past Head's that I could become one easy because of my work ethic. That being said I have been signing openings for the past 3 weeks but still nothing.
With hopes of getting an interview soon, what should I expect - questions?
This is what I did and it worked. When the DM is in the cooler looking at your setup, put a squash in your pants and say "how can i get farther in this company?" If he goes for the big bulg, then bend him over and pound him until he scream "YESSS FRESH AND FRIENDLY OHH YESSS". If he doesn't, mark the squash down in a markdown bag. Good luck!
In my district, you have to call the store manager to set up an interview after you sign the bid. They don't just call you.
Normally, they go by seniority. If you can impress them, they might pick you.
They will ask what you know about using the telxon.
Do you know how to order?
Why do you want the job?
How will you motivate coworkers to get work done efficiently?
If you ever had any problem at any job, how did you handle it?
They will ask what you know about Best Practices in the Produce Department. Grocery has a 5S program. Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize and Sustain. Produce has something different but similar. Familiarize yourself with it and Key Retailing processes.
They might ask about your stores freshness scores.
