I was just wondering- I called in sick this morning (I've been throwing up all night) and my manager told me that I need a doctor's note for the absence to be "excused." Is this true? It seems a little extreme for just one sick call. I can't get to a doctor today, because you can't just call in on a Friday and get in that same Friday. My doctor isn't open over the weeekend. I can't go to an urgent treatment place because insurance.
So my question is, is this actually required or is there some employee right I can use in my favor here? Thanks.
Since they deliberately run skeleton crews, they can hardy stand for a vomiting skeleton to be absent.
The manager is probably bluffing/bullying. If you're beyond your probationary period, ask him how highly satisfying it would be for an associate to vomit on a customer's food? Ask him how that would jibe with your local/state health codes.
Krogrr is a kind of a criminal conspiracy. Union up, and respond accordingly.
Yeah, your manager is BSing. One does not simply force someone who is puking to come to work. That is a health safety issue, especially when you're around food.
