After a week of not getting any  new info I called them and they told me to call back next Tuesday. The thing is that today I got this email

Yeah, they dropped you. Sucks, I've had that happen with other companies. And you'll likely never learn why or what, if anything, you did wrong.

But here's what I'd try, if it's important to you: Go to the store you were supposed to work at. No calls, no announcements, drop in and ask for the s.m. like you're a customer.

The key here is to catch them off guard.

Ask for an office visit or even a walk - talk. But get their ear. Keep cool and describe to this person the way you did to us. Ask them point blank what you need to do to come work for them, and put it in just those words.

Let us know how this works for you.

They probably hired a friend of a friend or found someone with excellent credentials.  Very odd to turn a warm body down for a job.  Were you interested in any other department?  They always need people on night stock and courtesy clerks.

Call the hiring person that interviewed you and ask if they have any other positions open.  If their name is Gary, it might be safer to find a different job.

Nothing personal against you.  Unless you are covered in tattoos.

Unless you didn't pass the drug test or you told them you hate jews, I don't think i have ever seen someone passed up to work at Kroger. I have seen retarded kids, convicted sex offenders, drug dealers, 90 year olds that are almost dead. I really don't know how you werent hired. I would take inventory on yourself and figure out why the worst employer in the USA will not even hire you. Maybe interview for a co-manager position, they hire ANYONE. Good luck!

I agree with this but if you are going the extra mile, do it for a good company.

I had an interview back in mid-March.  I aced it right from the moment I met the hiring manager.  I am a normal person, doesn't do any kind of drugs or drinking, and was brought up to be a worker and not a slacker.  I recieved an e-mail a few days later, that I am "being considered for another position."  I called Wahid at corporate and he verified that the hiring manager will consider me for work.  So far, nothing from corporate (e-mails or calls), nor from the hiring manager.  What should I do?

Call the hiring manager and ask what's up.

Don't wait for Kroger to call you.  Their hiring process is screwed up.  Go look for other jobs.  You might get lucky and find something much better elsewhere.

I totally agree with you.  I will call them first thing Monday morning, since it's the weekend.  I can't a thing for granted with this company.  I will speak with the hiring manager one on one and try get in the ear.  I am already applying somewhere else (a hospital, non-volunteer work).  If I can get that job (and my odds are better there)...f&$# Kroger.  They don't need me.  From what I have on the forums so far, I am having second thoughts about joining a location's team/staff.
