Seniority Conflict for Availability
Permalink

So I'm a CC and I submitted a new availability online saying that I'm available from 7am-6pm every day of the week. Before this (and still right now) my availability only allows the weekends. I just checked online and it says that my request for availability every day had been declined for "Seniority Conflict". I don't know what this means; can someone explain it please?

You can talk to your CSM (the front end department head) for clarification. If he/she is a reasonable person, the two of you may be able to come up with an availability that works better for both you and the store.

That doesn't make any sense.  Of course this is Kroger we're talking about here.  You're not requesting to work those hours.  All you're doing is saying you can work those hours.  Do they not understand that?

I don't get it either... All I'm saying is that I'm able to, I don't get why they are declining me being more available

It sounds like your CSM is an idiot.

not that it matters a whole lot, but why do you have an availability?

You're available during the day and on the weekends, am I reading that right?

If I'm reading it correctly, he was only able to work weekends when he was hired, and now (presumably because it's summer break) is able to work on weekdays as well. He submitted his new availability and the CSR declined it because seniority, which makes zero sense if he's expanding rather than narrowing his schedule.

Ok, I cleared this up at work today. They declined it because I wouldn't have gotten any hours with that availability. If I want hours during weekdays, I will need to work later at night because the daytime hours are given and requested by those with seniority
