I've had a job at Kroger for almost two months now. I want to quit as soon as possible, since school is starting up and a family vacation is not too far away. I was wondering, is it better to be fired for not showing up for a shift or is it better to quit? Also do I have to give a two weeks notice or could i quit on the spot?

It is professional etiquette to put in a two weeks notice. It shows that you are responsible and dedicated to good work habits. If you start something, finish it to the end no matter how much it "hurts". This applies to school and anything you do after you finish school.
In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter if you quit on the spot or give a two weeks notice. Two months is a blip on the radar of life. The turn over rate is so high, that you might be forgotten within two weeks.
Good luck in school and always strive for the best in life. There will always be ebbs and flows(downs and ups).
