I have been working at kroger for about 8 months now and I had work one day but I was sick as a dog, barely able to lift my head up to throw up so calling in never crossed my mind till I remembered due to a reminder in my phone for 15 minutes prior to punching in so I quickly called in and my manager said it's an inproper call in and an automatic write up, I have no idea what a write up is or does. What is it? What what are the consequences of it?
One time in 8 months isn't bad as previous poster mentioned. The bad part was calling in 15 minutes before your shift. Each contract is different. Some must call in 2 hours before their shift starts and others must call in atleast an hour before their shift starts.
If you had called in 2 hours before your shift, it would have been noted but nothing done about it unless it was excessive. Calling in 15 minutes before the shift is a No Call, No Show. Bad, but not bad enough to get fired for.

Get Well
I don't even get out of bed until a half hour before I need to be at work. There's no way I could call in two hours ahead of time, or even one hour for that matter.
