Hello I'm a cashier at kroger, right now I'm doing u-scan. I trained for like like 2 days and I'm doing it. Learning something new at kroger doesn't get you a pay raise so I've been told. They also want me to learn customer service.... is it worth it..? I'm making 5 cents above minimum wage and I've been with kroger for 3 months. Also one of the book keepers told me that I should ask to be floor supervisor, but I don't know if I should...
wont get you a pay raise BUT youre normal pay raises you get (i get one every 6 months) should be higher than a normal cashiers if you go into customer care or supervising. but really it's not worth it. the more you know, the more they work you for the same exact pay
Like the person above me said, the more you know, the more they will work you. It's a double edged sword though. While it will be more work and most likely, more headache/stress, it can also potentially lead to more hours per week on average, and if you plan on sticking it out with Kroger for the foreseeable future, more money if you can achieve a higher position on the front end. If, you become the lead bookkeeper for example, you can make around $14.00 or the ACSM, you can get $1.00 premium per hour, or say work your way up to CSM, you can make around $17.00 per hour plus bonuses based on store volume. You can actually achieve any one of these positions within just a couple of years, too, depending on how bad the turnover rate/hiring situation is in your area and if your area is one where Kroger is building many new stores a year.
