But does, Kroger ever consider reimbursing their employees for getting their personal items ruined, while working a side job for them? Ex. I was asked to come over to our new store location which is going to be opening this Wed. And instead of doing bakery stuff as I would have thought. I and another employee had to help paint these reindeer that our overhead deli/bakery guy created. To go on top of the roof for the holiday season. As well as a Santa and Sleigh. Well long story short, I got really coated in the paint(white). And when I got home and my dad saw me. He was asking if they were going to reimburse me for getting my clothes messed up. I told him, from the way the deli/bakery guy was acting all cutesy about his own clothes not getting messed up. I doubt he would even care or think about doing anything for mine. But I figured I would ask here to be sure. Though I mostly doubt it.

Wait till you see what happens next month. Any co/mgr making less than the new threshold for salary overtime exemption, will be dropped to hourly wages. This means if they go down to dept heads and you are one. That's right you may be bagging and getting carts again. Because if they go down so do you. Seniority comes first. That's right BUMP,BUMP, BUMP and the union can't do anything about it.

I just actually got hired on at the end of the summer. And just got through my 60 days the 28th day of this month. So nowhere near being a co/or regular manager at all. But yea, good to know for the managers I guess and rather unfortunate at the same time for them too. Although at the same time, it might be good too for some managers that want to over work people past their hours. I mean I'm already at 40 hours this week as is. And then sometimes they ask if I can stay over at times if someone is feeling sick. And at times I don't mind. And as I have permission to do so I guess that is okay and I stay. But yea, sometimes they still try and get you to stay to do last min stuff even though you have told them you have to get out of there at a particular time. Or worse yet keep piling on things on the evening crew knowing how much we have to clean up. So although it will suck for the managers to have that happen to them. They should respect the other employees getting in and doing as much as they can and getting out.

So how exactly do I go about getting the refund? Would I talk to my Dept. Head or the person above him? Which it  was actually the overhead guy over the whole deli/bakery that had asked me and any other new hires to go over to the new store to help out. I just would hate to bring it up, and have someone thinking I'm trying to stir the pot per se. Meaning that I'm being petty over my clothes/work apron getting messed up vs. being a "team player". Which nothing wrong with being a team player. But honestly it was such a last min call situation, and I wasn't even dressed in clothes that I wouldn't have minded getting messed up.

Heck even had to go home and change into something else AFTER I had gotten under way with the painting(but mostly cause the overhead guy was like, yea make sure she cleans off her shoes and stuff so she isn't tracking paint into the rest of the store. Which again is understandable. But, maybe before asking peeps to come over to do something like that. You should let them know what kind of work it is and to give them a chance to go home and come back in something that they don't mind getting dirtied in the first place. Just saying). So yea, just don't want to stir the pot or be considered one of those people that are asking for things that they aren't going to handle in the first place.

Or.... they will increase co managers salary to the threshold  and drop associate manager to hourly. It's not a stretch in dallas with dept heads pulling in 40-45k. Too many things to consider to issue such a generalized fix.

Stores may have less assistant managers.. associate managers on the low end of the salary spectrum could become day time grocery managers who are hourly and have some of their previously assigned duties dropped onto the merchandising assistant manager, while high volume associate managers could remain salaried and get bumped to 47k if your store does xxx, xxx+ weekly and those positions would be held by only the top tier of performing associate managers.

I could see them lowering the bonus for salaried people if they bump them to threshold to pay for it. the money has to come from somewhere.

It's going to be really interesting to see how this plays out.

not to mention you may very well see quite a few salaried folks walk away when they are offered less incentives, so the company can adjust to pay for this without hurting the bottom line.

obama sure is passing quite a few controversial things on his way out the door... did he consider that big business is what gives people jobs before he decided to take a swipe at them?

is this going to translate into more money for salaried people? no. it will simple get them reclassified in most cases, and will even increase the unemployment rate in some areas. this is not helping anyone.

Bring your bag of ruined clothes to only the store director. Explain what happened and there will be NO issue. Stuff happens all the time like this. Do not be afraid to tell the director. Forget about the dept, heads.

Okay thank you. And yea, I did try and get them dry cleaned, but yea they said no can do about it. So I asked one of the managers. And he said just buy some new stuff and bring in the receipt from the new purchases and they would take care of it for me.
