A couple of months ago, our manager held a meeting where she was trying to emphasize a point about not making trains of carts and only push 6 at a time(which we obviously won't do). In this meeting, she kept referring to metal areas where we hold carts but our store doesn't have these. When a bagger corrected her, she said that she just saw them outside(which is obviously didn't since they didn't exist). When she accepted that we don't have them, she said she would have some installed(which she didn't). Now, we have received a new kind of cart and we, not only have nowhere to put, but also have decreased our overall number of carts since retard customers keep trying to fit them into the older, better carts and end up jamming them in. We have to put these aside so we can hammer them out which usually involves them being broken.

I know that Kroger is ****ing retarded and will rather spend another decade losing money on **** promotions and coupon policies before they give their workers the appropriate equipment to do their ****ing jobs but I would still like to think we will one day get these basic ****ing things that every store has. We have less parking spaces because customers have nowhere to put their carts so they leave them in open parking spaces, we have less carts due to the aforementioned jamming situation, customers get annoyed when other customers let their carts go in the middle of nowhere and end up hitting other vehicles(blame goes to the baggers obviously), and our baggers take longer to bring carts in so people like me get called up to help with this mess.

Are you saying you don't have cart corrals at your store? That would be pretty... insane, if that's the case.

This sounds like a situation that's only going to get resolved when enough customers complain directly to management, through the survey (causing your store's receipt tracker to plummet) and through corporate via phone/internet. Until then, it sounds like a bad situation that you and others at your store will have to deal with until the customer complaints get through management's/corporate's thick skulls. What would truly light a fire underneath them is if customers start saying that they will shop elsewhere and the store sees a noticeable drop in sales. Unfortunately, as much as some customers love to complain and threaten things like "I'm going to go shop at Walmart!" very seldom do they actually do and you'll usually see them back in the store the very next day or so, so management and corporate seldom get the message.

All you can do for the time being is try to not let it get under your skin that much. Like most people here will tell you, don't break your back for Kroger. Just do what you can and go home at the end of your shift and don't let management's/the store's problems become your problems.

Your store doesn't have cart corralls? Where do they put the carts then, just all willy nilly throughout the lot? O_o

sounds like a crappy store if you have to hammer carts to get them apart.  Care to take and post pics of said carts?

Yeah. That is why we have less parking spaces. We have bushes with indentations to keep carts in but they only hold one type of cart at a time and are hard to get carts out of.

Our receipt tracker is already low, sometimes 58 or so. Most of the complaints are not about the employee behavior but the management's only initiative to address the issue of the receipt tracker is to tell employees to be friendlier so I don't think they give a damn about customer complaints.
