The other night we had a very intoxicated customer at one of our registers. We knew he was driving (had the car keys near the pin pad.) Do you call management, or your store security guard if one is on duty? We have been told to just let the customer go. What is Kroger's policy anyone know?
Krogrr policies are designed to protect Krogrr . . . no you, your coworkers, customers, or the general public.
Working for the MonsterCorp doesn't mean forfeit our rights as citizens/residents. If you thought you might have some rapport with the customer, you could offer to call him a ride. Failing that, you could call the police if you feel that the customer is about to commit a crime that endangers innocent people.

RE: What would you do in this situation-intoxicated customer
Definitely refuse to sell alcohol to them. This should be on the CBT training module. Kroger can be held liable if they get in a wreck and kill someone later. If the customer has a problem with that, call the police.
You need to ask your store manager what you do if the person appears drunk but doesn't buy alcohol. Do you call the police or do you let them go and hope they don't kill a family member?
You will need a license plate number, description of vehicle and general direction they went if you do call the police. More than likely, the person will be gone before the police get there.
