I'm 15 and work weekends and whenever they schedule me- - I'm a utility clerk, bagger job. I've worked at Krogers for 4 months, work hard, treat customers well, take others shifts and come in usually whenever they call and im not scheduled.

I was just told Tuesday by my parents we are going to Destin Florida till Monday, and I was scheduled officially for Saturday and Sunday, and had said I'd be able to come in Wendsday. I got somebody to work my Wendsday shift, but couldn't for my Saturday or Sunday shift. I was busy and nervous till Friday, but called them in,the morning and told my manager politely that I wouldn't be able tl come in on,Saturday or Sunday, told her my situation, and apologized and said i can make up for it next week and am really sorry.

She said that she was going to contact managers and that the two days would be counted as no call no show, then hung up. She's a mondo bitch and hated by most of the front end, and frankly if I was fired I wouldn't be upset because I csn get a better paying job woth more hours and many.of tje staff are annoying.

I jjst wanna know if shes correct to say I'm no calling no showing those days even though i called in with the most possible convenience i could manage and have only no calls no showed once in,the past due to a schedule error.

sounds like there needs to be more communication between you and your parents.  Kroger does schedules 2 weeks in advance.  If your parents had a trip planned they should let you know long enough in advance so that you can request off.  I'm not suggesting that you've done anything wrong, I'm just pointing out how it works.  This is the real world and you signed up for the commitment.  Kudos for doing good work, hope everything works out for you

Dude, if you called in, its not a no-call no-show. Easy as that.
Talk to your union steward as soon as you can.
Remember, if you are called for discipline, you have the right to have a steward there with you, but you have to ask. They won't remind you.

It is totally wrong for you to be counted as a no-call no-show. That said, some discipline may be called for in your area, but no-call no-showing is way worse than calling in.

If you can actually get a better job, do it. Quit working here.

I'm sorry but i think your parents sound like they f'ed up. They know you have a job now, and they should know better! Why didn't they tell you sooner than this that you were leaving this weekend?

That said you did call in so i don't think it's fair to call you a no call no show since you did call in. That manager doesn't sound very good.

But i don't think your parents are doing a good job at teaching you how to handle a job when they have no problem with you just blowing off work.

Your not 100% in the right but it's not a no call, you literally called.  Not all Kroger are 2 week in advance schedules.

Ok so why in the hell are you not having the "Mom, dad, I want to take care of my responsibility now that I am getting older" conversation. Time to trick them man and ****in party while they are gone. Act like you want to work and be mature. You'll still have to work but when your off it's party time. Mom and dad are out!
