What do you think will happen when negotiations start in March? My union rep says higher pay is at "the top of the list."

Seems the last raise was for leads who have topped out in pay.
It would be nice if everyone got a raise.

There's rumors of some dept heads moving to salary including grocery and front end.  That's one way to avoid OT pay! Just make them work 10 hour shifts fifty hours a week like co-managers. SMH. TBH if you're going to ask them to be MOD on a weekly basis you should be paying them something more than 50c an hour to "mind the store" while the salary people are working banker's hours.

Base hourly pay has to go up. We can't get anybody hired or get anybody to stay unless they come in with some experience pay and pretty much top out on part time pay. There should be 50c premiums for those taking on extra work like floor, bookkeeping and guest care like they had before, I think, 2010.

Are department heads considered management?

We are in a staffing crisis in our store. My floor supervisor told me "I don't know how we are going to get thru Thanksgiving." I told our union rep that in the next contract there better be a provision for us to be CLOSED on Thanksgiving like most grocery stores. We are SO short staffed no one is getting the holiday off.

Not in the way you are thinking but they can be scheduled manager on duty shifts where they do the work of salary.

That includes handling any customer crisis, doing fast alerts, taking trucks, call outs, walking depts, etc.

For that you get fifty cents an hour extra if you are scheduled over four hours. Not worth it lol.

I'd never heard that was a thing before until i saw the meat manager at my new store with a training book that said MOD and he was walking with the store manager.

i bet he's trying to get out of that store soon tbh.
