My old store.

Recently I was running some errands for my dad and had to buy him some groceries.  Since I was already in that part of town I did his shopping at my old store.  When I checked out the lady who rang me up was one of the few people I recognized.  After some small talk she mentioned she was only getting 18 hours that week, the week before Thanksgiving, and it had been that bad recently.  Oh and I forgot to mention she has been with the company for 5 years and works several different departments.  She said hours were cut that week and from the few people I know that still work there, hours were cut and no extra help scheduled over Christmas as well.

So glad I got the hell out of there.  Oh before I leave, before I went to check out the store manager, who lied like hell when I tried to apply for unemployment was standing on the front end since the CSM was on a register.  Well it was busy and crowded and the only way for me to get to the register was to walk between the the s.o.b and a display table.  Well as I did I let a foul smelling SBD out and by the time I got to the checkout he was walking away.  Not mature at all, but the m,fer deserved it.

What she said is very true.

I, personally, have only been getting scheduled 25 hours per week for the past 2 months. Weirdly enough for January I am getting more hours this coming week then I got during the holidays. It's crazy!

One store I used to work at scheduled all the part timers in the deli 24 or less hours the week of Christmas and 40 the next week.

I am going to try and explain hours so that some people can understand.  Most hours each week are determined by the previous years sales.  Since Christmas was on Sunday this year and Friday last year it completely messed up the hours.  We got so few hours for the week before Christmas is because last year Christmas was on that Friday and the store was closed (so that's 1 whole day of sales lost).

Thanks for slowing it down so we could get it.  Corporate greed metrics and screwy algorithms must be obeyed . . . even when they are pure greed and idiocy.

Got it.

There is no reason why Kroger shouldn't be able to take stuff like that into account and adjust the forecasted hours accordingly.
