People out looking for free stuff

Does your store have a problem of people complaining about an order (deli/bakery etc) just to get it at a discount rate or for free? I can always tell whose going to be the type to complain. I'm getting sick of it.

I always try to give it to them at this point just to **** with Kroger. That "make it right" crap was ridiculous.  They could waste millions on literally handing out products to anyone who complains while our store's equipment is in disrepair with multiple safety regulations being violated and our wages are far below a 'competitive' level. Though this is the same company that has "Taste of Italy" which is a gigantic failure yet decides to do it again. Hearing they retired 2000 corporate employees was so surprising to me. That means they had at least 2000 employees which could tell them that when something fails once, it will probably fail again. Also, maybe one of those 2000 could have said giving free **** to complaining customer is a terrible idea.

I usually did this too. It's not my money so just give them the product and follow the rules.

Also remember that not all corporate employees are big important decision makers.. so dang that sucks for them to be getting laid off

As far as I know we don't have a lot of complaints over in our Deli/Bakery area. Although there are a few older ladies that will come in with a bit of a stank attitude and try and be like "I knew I shouldn't have come here" all while asking you to write this super long message on a cake for one. Or for two after the cake is already done and they barely look at it, say that the writing is all bunched up or when they talked to someone else they said the price was different than what it was(for the latter chick we straightened her out and she did pay the full price).

But what our real beef is people ordering cakes and NOT picking them up. Although I guess it's technically not a beef for the decorators after a while. As I've seen more than my fair share of cakes that didn't get picked up end up in our break room. But it does kind of annoy me that so many end up there though and I don't even decorate the cakes. I just feel like it's such a waste of our supplies and even the decorators time when they could have been working on back stock or other stuff.

You can always scrape off the writing and put the cake back in the case.  We do it all the time.  Putting the cake in the freezer makes it easier to scrape off the writing.  If it still smears, you can always cover it up with icing.

i was hoping someone would say this.  Common sense. They worry about us stealing but don't have the common sense to realize that a bad icing job can be redone.  HURR DURR!

Yes our store has this problem. Very shady entitled people. In fact a lot of the people who shop at our store have mental illness. no joke. a lot of sociopaths here.

Mnagemnet nees to require a commitment from customers, like a partial payment over the phone or something.
