I have heard about these as well, but I don't know if Kroger follows up with former employees with any degree of consistency. You may want to ask your store's ASP or co-manager in charge of HR.
Some little bit of noise is made in management about associate "retention", including having a one-page exit-interview sheet. However, management is not concerned enough about retention to actually provide safe stores, pay ethically, or require store directors to behave respectfully.
