Fines for not taking breaks?

I was told that the "company" would have to pay fines if an employee skipped their break or lunch. Has anyone else heard of this?

I've heard of this too, but in many states, it is LAW that underage employees have to take their breaks/lunches or Kroger can be fined.

My store would be absolutely ****ed then lol

Nobody even clocks out for break... I've seen a handful do it on day shift, night shift? In 3-4 months I never saw one person clock out for break.

fined for not taking breaks? seems like kroger would jump for joy at the prospect of a worker skipping their break to slave for them a little bit longer each day. skipping your lunch could be an issue, especially if you work 8 hours, as the lunch is unpaid and skipping it will clock you in at 8.5 hours which is a half hour overtime. aka you're going to have some very grumpy management on your heels.

Ha, my store would be the same way. Heck my own DH is like "who needs a break? I don't take one." So I'm more than positive that we could be fined as all get out at times for some of us that don't get a break.

lunch - depends on the state and age of employee.

but yeah they don't want that .5 of OT! and if you work off the clock they'll get in trouble, that's wage theft

(but they only get busted if someone reports them!)

I wish my store was worried about fines. They try to pressure you not to take breaks.
