Another vacation question

Hey peeps,

Okay, long story short, our vacation weeks and so forth have been scheduled at my store. I know I have been given the week of Oct. 22nd. And was told to mark that week once I've been approved for it. To which, I tried to go in and do just now in e-schedule and only see off with no pay, and personal when I click the drop down menu.

Thing is, I get I'm not eligible for my vacation til sometime in Aug. when I was hired. But does that mean I can't mark my vacay week til then either? Or do I have to talk to someone about being able to put it into the e-schedule?

Why don't you just wait until after your anniversary date passes before putting your vacation on E-Schedule?

 Originally I was thinking of doing that as it would have made more sense. But the back up manager that told me to get it on the e-schedule as soon as you find out. So that nobody else can claim that week for themselves. 

However that begs the question, if they already have approved X amount of peeps to have a vacation that week already. Wouldn't that come before if someone wanted to request that whole week off for other personal reasons? Not to make it sound like my vacay week is more important than if someone else's family member dies and they need to travel out and see them. Which I know it isn't.

But I don't know, is she saying get it on the e-schedule before a larger dept. has peeps that want that time too or what(I'm in bakery, and though we have like 18 or so peeps, I think we are still no bigger than Floral that seems to have a few peeps as well as cheese shop)?

Sorry ahead of time if I'm being dense about this. But was never really explained about how the vacations work for full-time peeps or part-timers. And the contract is as clear as mud to me half the time. And they love telling you all kinds of stuff to do. But never really explain the who, what, and why for of it all.

Your back up manager is probably unaware that you can not put it in eschedule until your anniversary date.  That is what I am guessing caused you not to be able to enter it.  Inform them.
The rule at my store is only one person in my immediate department can take a vacation during any given week.

Yea, I figured I will have to. Cause when I looked at the schedule again, at least for Deli/Bakery it's me and another chick I work with that are scheduled to have vacations that week in our dept. And she has seniority over me. I'm also under their Deli branch since I was hired on, but actually work and applied for the bakery. And I think it might be the reverse for the other chick, is how they are able to get away with two people from the same dept. getting that week. But I think some other peeps might have it as well in other depts.

Thankfully I go back in tomorrow so can get is straightened out. Thanks again.

I usually just cash my vacations. Are we still allowed to do that?
