What moron thought it would be a genius idea to chime this ridiculous announcement every single hour? Every time that I have to hear this, I shrivel up and die inside. Every associate's dignity is completely destroyed. It's a f**king grocery store, not grade school where the teacher is like "Okay kids, it's time for recess!" Kroger, do everyone a favor and quit being so f**king pathetic with this "friendly and fresh" sh*t.
Who else hurries over to a phone and pushes the page button for a few seconds to drown this announcement out?
The noise that precedes the "top of the hour" announcements is hard to describe, but the volume is turned up WAAAAYYYY WAAAYY TOO LOUD, and sounds something like a sudden, crescendo/ mixture of loud banging metal kitchen soup pots, combined with 10 sets of crashing cymbals being banged by 4-year olds in nursery school.
I can now lip-synch the "the time is 4:00" etc., announcements with perfect precision.
KROGER corporate world, you are IDIOTS!!!!!!!!! I wish someone with authority would read these threads and remedy this crap! Don't you realize the Kroger "low level" employee world despises you??
None of the stores I've worked at have that. We have something less frequent, and definitely less annoying. At 10:00AM, 12:00PM, 3:00PM and 5:00PM, we have an automated announcement that starts off with something that kind of/sort of sounds like a doorbell before saying. "attention store team, it's time for our freshness check. Attention store team, it's time for our freshness check". At which point, "fresh" departments are supposed to review their tables/displays for freshness and replenish/refresh them. Suffice to say... that doesn't happen, lol.
Best thing about these announcements is it helps me keep track of time without checking my phone, lol.
my store doesn't have this, but we have something similar. it goes something like "BING BONG BING BONG: department managers, please monitor the sales floor refridgerator temperatures, and record them in the sales floor refridgerator log. BING BONG BING BONG"
OK, I'm the poster who wrote our store has the top of the hour announcement begin with a noise " like a sudden, crescendo/ mixture of loud banging metal kitchen soup pots...." several days ago.
UPDATE: They have now changed the sound to a quieter, less annoying "doorbell chime' (as of around March 3) . But it is STILL too loud, and has a "startling" sound to it.......hard to describe. Just something else to annoy the employees and customers with.
now, if they would just eliminate it altogether?????
