It hasn't been rolled out in our store yet, but after some discussion with our operations Co manager I believe I have a good handle on how to set minimums, what I've been doing is setting everything to have a minimum day supply of about two days, some things are surge purchased on Friday and Saturday so for those I will set the minimum a bit higher, since we don't get a truck Saturdays. So far I have been having minimal holes. With the exception of the cereal aisle, most of my backstock is distributions that I can't control, or mispick/wrong boh items. Some stuff on the cereal aisle requires backstock because it will blow out by the next day, so my cereal backstock goes from 5 ft high to empty and back again on a daily basis.
You can change mins all you want but when it rolls out there will be a locked min set to your items that fluctuates with movement. Every week it will change on its own accord but you can change it throughout the week in a brief open window each day but it's pointless as it will just reset. Use the rf handheld as a tool and learn to trust cao by doing a thorough lows and holes scan everyday and knowing what you have in your backroom. Your shelves will eventually be packed and backroom in good shape. Aside from breakout product that you can't control, your backstock will fluctuate up and down as long as it gets worked properly. :)
It will not help. System is already broken. It will send things, like bagged dog food for instance, because it attempts to predict sales, but it is very flawed. I worked at a store for 3 years where we had the numbers DIALED OUT, and I mean they were 99% perfect. Still got dumb backstock that didn't make sense, everything would be correct when we scanned it in, so there was no reason to receive it. I wouldn't put too much faith in any auto-ordering system that Kroger rolls out.
