I'm only on my second day and I don't feel like this job is for me. In not getting the best training and don't feel confident on my own yet. I keep thinking of just not showing up for work. I don't know how long I can stand it but I really need a job

What dept. are you in? Have you by chance talked to your manager? I know the only time I got a little bit more training on particular things from my "trainer" was when the Deli/Bakery manager above my dept. head asked me how training was going. And I was just honest and said that it WASN'T going at all really. So might just need to be honest and see if things change a bit more from there. If not, might consider a dept. change maybe? But overall though, and this is most unfortunate. Regardless if you change depts. or stores, for sure you are going to have to be able to watch closely and ask TONS of questions and if you can get a little note book make as many notes as you can in there to help yourself out. Cause as far as I've seen(I'm coming on being with Kroger a year) only training you get half the time is what you learn on the fly.

Kroger training has always been a trial by fire. You'll pick it up eventually and everyone will get mad at you but you'll pick it up or quit. Your choice really. They don't care.

Speak to your hiring manager(whoever hired you).  Mine are making the best effort to make new employees feel at ease.  They want new employees to speak with them before the employee gives up and quits.  They will get you more training.  They will try to help you transition into being confident with doing your job.

Kroger is having a difficult time hiring and keeping new employees so they are trying this approach in my district at least.

Some managers and coworkers are so busy that they don't have time to remember what it was like to be new and learn everything from scratch.

What department are you in?

If you need the job and don't mind the mundane tasks, hang in there and keep trying.

I was miserable the first 6 months due to the coworkers I worked with.  After that, it got easier.  I needed the job badly then and Kroger has treated me well in the last 9 years.
