So there won't be anymore meat cutters or band saws?..just another meat department like wallmart so the pay will be less and not as many people in the meat department? And no service cases?
i was told at some point we would only be cutting for the service cases and everything on the wall and bunkers would be prepacked meat
wouldn't surprise me at some point we took the prepacked meat and used it to set up our service cases--- were already doing this with some things like pork chops
half of our service case are things we just take out of a tray and put in there
Yet another move (in a long list of moves) that further demonstrates the Kroger "Customer 1st" promise is little more than an empty slogan rather than a steadfast philosophy. It's impossible to spin this in a way that benefits customers. It's clearly obvious the only thing benefiting from this is Kroger's bottom line. Kroger would like nothing more than every individual in Meat Market to make no more than a front end cashier, or perhaps a better example would be a deli clerk (which I believe is on the same pay scale as cashiers) since that's a service case position, and one of the easiest ways to go about this is to phase out meat cutting.
The customers that utilize the services of the Meat Market service case may only make up a "tiny fraction" of the customer base (and I'm not sure how accurate that is), but if Kroger continues to eliminate services and policies that only impact a "tiny fraction" of the customer base here and there, all those "tiny fractions" are going to add up. Kroger should be looking at how to retain it's current customer base as well as grow it, especially with competition increasing both in a traditional sense and non-traditional sense, rather than do things that give customers reasons to spend money elsewhere.
