Any employee who works at Kroger who thinks the Produce department is "EASY"............
1) Has NEVER worked in Produce
2) Or is a total slacker and lets the other Produce dept employees do most of the harder work.
Produce can be a huge hassle when all of the tasks are performed the way they are supposed to be done. Of course, with the crappy, rotten, corrupt, worthless and inefficient ELMS / e-schedule, you can be 100% assured that the dept is never properly staffed. Kroger corp seems to never learn that we are hanging on a shoestring, constantly trying to stay ahead with all the paperwork, PPST for cut fruit, green rack conditioning, code dates/markdowns, etc, and we can't keep produce looking good because they won't give us enough hours. Dept sales are up, hours alloted to this dept are down. Go figure. Kroger sucks. And Kroger management refuses to transfer or get rid of the slacker employee in our dept which compound the problems we already have.
That easy compared to meat.. we have to all that plus serve customers at a service case and have crap load of logs to do and expect to cut everything and keep everything full
OK, so fill out a transfer request to go to Produce. but just be warned that it may take some time (maybe several months) before an opening becomes available. Then Report back to us in a while about whether you like Produce and if it's much easier than Meat & Seafood.
I will in a heartbeat when back up opens up..I will take a pay cut but it will be closer and much easier. But I think a back up drug gm will come up first so I have to think about that.
No one here has worked Drug/GM at a marketplace, yeah it's easy, easily the hardest. The sheer volume of truck for 5 out of 7 days. Only overnight grocery gets more truck and that doesn't count since you don't have to deal with customers all day, can bring pallets to the floor, throw boxes everywhere etc... And that's just talking truck, plenty of other bull**** I could comment on about Drug/GM.
Maybe smaller stores are easy but I can't comment on those.
And every department is getting squeezed for hours and understaffed so that's no excuse for anyone because we all deal with that ****.

I'm not drug/gm but i say heck no it's not easier in small stores... in my store the drug gm manager has to do it all. She might get help from one other person (if we can keep anyone hired) but that's it. Granted she doesn't have as much merchandise but just keeping up with that dang candy is a job in itself.
No, the easiest department is Click List. The people picking the items never seem to be in any kind of hurry. They just casually push their carts along looking at their handhelds and grabbing items off the shelf
