It's been 5 weeks now since I've been doing Uscan exclusively everyday, 2nd shift, giving me a very nice 40 hours a week for 5 weeks! Before that I was getting between 32 and 38 hours a week, randomly, being on the registers. I haven't been on a register in a freaking month...
I'm not complaining by any means. This is quite nice... But now that we just got a new CSM. I'm a bit worried that might change. I asked one of the store managers, and the told me they don't know much about how front end scheduling works but that it's "mostly automatic."
It almost feels like this has been a "promotion" being on the Uscan.
What happens with scheduling is the computer fills in the times but it's super inaccurate because the store never gets enough hours. The CSM then has to go back and do a review and make any changes. If the CSM only does the automated part and doesn't go back you get people that have worked there 20 years doing closing shifts and all that non-sense.
Keep an eye on the schedule that gets posted and make sure to complain if your, or anyone elses, shifts get screwy. Being new is like having a backup do your schedule. It becomes a nightmare until they figure it out.

Well, I just saw that next weeks schedule has just been posted online on eSchedule, and it looks like the same 40 hours and 2nd shift. Dunno if I'll still be coded as SCO for next week or cashier, but I guess I'll find out when the final schedule gets put up on friday.
I'm curious, though, why am I getting 40 hours every week? Is it because nobody else wants to be on 2nd shift Uscan?
That's probably what it is. They shouldn't give you over 28 hrs but you're dependable or they're trying not to "break" the pattern while they try to figure out their new front end. Does your shift end when the store closes? It can be hard to find dependable help.

My shift always ends when the service desk ends. It just so happens that that is how I set my availability for every day of the week. So I always close down my Uscan bank at the end of the shift. Then all that's left is maybe 3 or 4 cashiers on register, and two other open Uscans till 11pm. There's two shifts on the Uscan each day, my shift relieves the first person.
One of my FES also told me that I'm the only one who ever comes back from break on time.
