Bag Expense, isn't a goal its the quantity/cost of bags to the items leaving the store. If each bag leaves the stores with 5 items....."X" Bag are needed. While this is a way to save money, its a hard expense to manage as items are bagged differently by all associates/customers. Also, with SCO customers bag as they desire, which is good and bad with the Bag Expense goal.

-Use the loose Plastic Bags
-Have consistent quantity of Bags from Sales Periods
Pet peeve-----A Customer gets 6 Gatorades.. DO NOT USE A CANVAS WINCE BAG!! Just double bag .....$.01x2 is cheaper then $.50
LOL, nobody except me (and a couple lifers) at the front end does that. Lose bags everywhere, all over the registers, in the trash, on the floor, crumbled up in the empty boxes they came in, just all over. I understand the customers at Uscan not being bothered with bags they can't get open in a second, but the cashiers?
What do we get when we meet the bagging goal? Do we get a reward? (NOT just management, but ALL of us?) Also, I think it be kind of difficult to meet said goal, because customers can and will do the opposite. And we MUST comply when bagging for them, goal or no goal. I could be wrong, but I don't think this will last.
Well that is the problem with all the Goals, you can expect a goal but if its unattainable or always changing then the goal is pointless. I can remember Vp's saying ...go for sales....gain hours. So every year, Sales up, Customer Count up and inflation flat or negative (So hours should be the same or slightly more), but yet Hours keep going down. While the company will tell you "Process Improvement", I dont see how you can stock a shelf differently from year to year, slice a deli meat and different or scan customers grocery differently.
There's been a goal for Bags for a long while, but was more talked up with the cost of bags were higher (When oil prices were high). They are trying to limit all expenses, they BIGGEST expense....LABOR..YOU!
It's been "strive for five" for a long time. Sometimes I run into baggers who want to put one item in a bag but there's a lot of variables. I don't like to mix the meats. I try not to bag handled items but only Hispanic customer seemed OK with that. I get a lot of double-bag requests because I'm "going up stairs" or "on a bus" which I get but it's still a waste. The loose bags KILL ME. We had great bag quality for awhile but now the front ends turn into a tornado of loose bags. We do recycle them but rarely collect and use them up. We should. My front end has slipped, we were one of the best on bag use.
No double bagging, hahahaha that would kill. Before we switched bags from our white bags to brown Kroger bags (but branded with our company name), our bags were strong and sometimes double bagging wasn't necessary. Nowadays, the bags feel ****ty, cheap, loose, and almost always cause problems. Correlation??? I think so! Krog is cheaping out everywhere and these stupid programs are hurting their chances.
