back when i was a bagger, we used to bounce from checklane to checklane to bag for 2 cashiers at the same time. The cashier would help so it was possible. Now they jump the gun and call for other departments. All. day. long. "we need 4 associates to come bag" ---there aren't any "extra" associates in any department. Maybe if they taught people how to jump, they'd accomplish more. Other departments have to "step it up" why not front end?
When they call us up, people who actually know how to work and they want to get things done, WE DO bounce. And we move fast, like we mean it. While watching baggers just stand at that one checkstand, waiting for a cashier to turn the belt on, so they can start bagging. (baggers have a button to move the belt as well, haha).
Sometimes even cashiers just stand there after ringing the order up, not helping us, people from departments, to bag. They are sooo used to calling for help, instead of speeding up just a bit.
It's like watching an episode of The Walking Dead. No urgency, no care if departments have to come and help, no shame, no regrets. I blame the FEMs. Sometimes the devil on my shoulder is telling me to pick up the phone and yell out "Front end, come help us in..." You know, since we are ONE store, and we are suppose to help each other out, right?
