I have read and posted on this board anonmously for several years but just recently signed up as a member. I didn't realize until now about one of the GOOD things about being a registered member of the forum. I was used to the default setting (posting as 'anonymous') so you could only see the threads in the same default order (the latest at the very top, listed in order of how long ago they were started). And, consequently after a few new posts, the older posts would keep 'getting farther and farther away" and after a few days they might be in "page 6" or "page 14" or whatever, always retreating farther into the distance, and harder to find, or be made aware of if any later posts were being made to that particular discussion.
Lo and behold, now that I am a member, I realize that if I want to see the very latest posts to ANY thread (including any and all threads, even those started 7 years ago or so), I just go to my account profile, click SETTINGS, click ORDER OF TOPICS and choose "LAST MODIFIED". This makes it so convenient to be abreast of new comments being added to threads you have long since forgotten about......they will appear at the very top of the list of discussions in bold type. (Bumped, so to speak).
I know alot of you long-time members will already be aware of this, (duh! please humor me but I think alot of the employees who have frequented this website for a long time (but have chosen not to sign up) had no idea they could have the discussions displayed this way on their screen if they choose. Just a heads up!
Uhm, you don't have to be a member to do that. I sort posts by last modified too.
OK, so if that is true, exactly how do you do that? I don't see anything on my screen that I would click on or go to, in order to change the order (or how long since they were modified) as it appears on my computer screen. Please advise, step by step. THANX!
Scroll down to the bottom of the list of messages on the main page. Just underneath the last subject is a bar that lists what page you're on and arrow keys and page numbers that let you jump directly to a particular page. To the right of that is a drop down menu that says, "Sorted by". Click the box and select the way you want threads to be sorted.

Thank you very much! I don't know why I never paid much attention to that drop-down menu before. I just tried it and you're right. The only difference I did notice was that (when I am "'clocked in" under my user ID) all of the posts (subject headings) on the page that I HAVEN'T yet read appear in bold type.
