I was just wondering do i need a receipt for a Gatorade bottle I brought from home? I use it as a water bottle and I have not seen this type of bottle at our store. I have had it for a while. I take it to the gym with me and other places. My manager was asking me for my receipt one day. She said I needed one for anything I buy there or bring into the store. I probably have it somewhere. Should I just duct tape my receipt to it if I find it? Is my manager just being a dbag?
What I do to get around it, is tear off the label if able to do so, and take a permanent marker and do some sort of doodle on the bottle. Coz I don't have time to look for a receipt for said drink that was in the bottle.
Unfortunately yes you will need a receipt. As they even want us to have one if you bring a drink in your lunch like I do. It's sooooo freaking annoying.
Your manager is being a douche bag. They have to actually see you take the item off the shelf and not pay for it before they can stop you. The burden of proof is on them. I buy multi-packs of soft drinks and bring one with me each day for my break. I'm not going to show them a receipt that's several weeks old. By that time, you can't read it anyway.
One of our higher-up LP guys likes to sit in the break room for half his shift and demand receipts from employees for everything.
If you don't have it on you, he will march you up to the service desk and look it up on your shopper's card.
If it's not on your card, things will become very uncomfortable for you.

Does she hassle anyone else about receipts? She might be trying to go after you, in which case you are going to have to watch your ass over every little thing.
If you can't find the receipt, chuck the bottle and buy a new one. Keep the receipt in your wallet until it fades since it isn't practical to retape it every day (especially considering washing the bottle).
Also, consider new employment since you will forget to dot an i or cross a t sooner or later. Kroger is the fourth worst paying corporation in the US; you can do better.

That's harassment plain and simple. Once again the burden of proof is on them. If they can't prove you didn't pay for something, they can't do anything. They can try but if they do, you can always contact the union. If that doesn't work you can always get a lawyer and and file a wrongful termination lawsuit.

If you get the item from somewhere else, it's not going to have a paid sticker on it. What are you suppose to do if you buy the item from a vending machine?
