After lots of deliberation, I finally took the plunge and put in my two weeks today. I got a job offer from another company that pays more and had better benefits and decided I would take it. I was amazed how hard it was for me to do though. As much as I complain about this place, I must like it at least some. I wanted to cry as the HR asked me what my last day would be. So its time to close this chapter of my life. Thanks for all you gave me, kroger.
How long had you been with Kroger? What's the new company?
Lots of different places to work but I'm guessing the majority of ppl stay with Kroger because of complacency or they're old timers that are to invested already.
I wish everyone well on their new adventures. But I also encourage people to think long term! While ever job is a stepping stone, there's less area for advancement in restaurants/small business.

Two years of working my a** off here and all I got was one raise. Advancement schmancement

There is career advancement opportunity, but it takes a long time and can only go so far. I kinda question anyone going into a Department Head or Store Management positions right now, your setup for failure. Everyone knows it RETAIL, but the company really needs to come up with a better way to balance Work & Life. Most clerks can work at McDonalds and get paid more and not have to work as hard.
Congratulations; it's good that you are getting out. Kroger isn't a place to build a career, and retail is miserable. I don't know if fast food is any better, but it's good to move on.
