First off why would the number one grocery chain, need to wait for massive tax cuts to pay their employees a half way decent wage? They make billions. Then to brag about it like it's an achievement? $11 an hour is not that much considering grocery chains were paying this much all the way back in the 70's.
Also whole foods has been paying their employees this starting wage for years, and they are no where as big as Walmart. Costco has been paying $12 or more as a starting wage for years as well, and they didn't wait for tax cuts to do it.
Walmart's environment and management suck.
If you want Kroger to follow the lead of another company, please pick a better one, because Walmart really is not doing anything above and beyond when it comes to their employees.
Wal Mart also closed dozens on Sam's Clubs stores on the same day they announced the starting rate increase.
Does anyone know if Kroger is allowed/likely to ever do the same thing? Just abruptly close stores down and not let any employees or customers know until the day of?
