Getting yanked around about my vacation.

Ok here's my situation. I put in for a vacation next week, put it in a few of weeks back. I look on the computer and see that the request says pending. That night the Grocery Lead comes in and tells me I probably won't get it because a higher seniority guy on the shift has put in for it.

Not a problem that happens.

I go in two days later and get on the computer to pick a different week and I see that my first choice has been approved. I think ok they must have enough people to cover both vacations or older guy changed his or something.

I go and look at the schedule last night and I'm scheduled to work that week but the request still says approved. the Grocery Lead says he'd put it in to be approved before he knew about older guy's vacation and that management had not approved it as the head manager was on vacation.

but it wasn't approved when he talked to me about it, it was pending. So apparently he changed the schedule but not the approval.

So I guess my questions are, does the approval on the eschedule actually mean anything or can they just yank us around anyway they want no matter what's in the computer? Or is this just a case of one guy (Gro Lead) being a screw up that didn't fix everything when he had to go back and redo the schedule for that week. And is their any recourse for me or do I just have to put up with this "you got it, you don't got it, you got it, you don't" B.S.?

I ask here as I don't think my store has a union rep at the moment.

Thanks!

The paper schedule always takes priority over anything online, since it says you're working, your vacation likely got denied and your grocery lead just didn't change it in eSched.

Pending, Approved, etc in eScheduler mean nothing unless it the same on the posted schedule. Even 2 week schedules that are seen in eScheuduler mean nothing unless they are the same posted.

Ok that's what I was afraid of. Glad to know for sure now that the computer doesn't mean anything.

Thanks for the quick answers!
