June 1st 2018 will be 11 years with Kroger. Im head frozen food manager. On Nov 22, 2017 I and a guy friend was on our last break outside smoking. My soon to be ex husband came to Kroger and pushed my guy friend in the back which  him to fall into me. Then when my friend t around to see what just happened my husband repeatedly hit him in the face. 2 black eyes, broken nose. I grabbed my husband and pulled him away from my friend.  My husband works for Kroger to, but different store. police Was called everything was on video tape, but the quality of it is real ****ty cause if you didnt know the people involved you cant make out people faces. Anyway the next day I was called upstairs and suspended until further notice. I have never been in trouble, never called off hardly, rewards out the ass too. I filed grievance and the union took it to hr and they said no we are not bringing her back cause she broke rule 21 in the handbook. I grieved that and took it to the next person which was the boss of the person that said no dont bring her back. Well that person in hr said no also. Then the union said they would do arbitratio, but it would take 2 years. I said yes lets go cause I dont feel Im at fault. I didnt provoke it, and all I was doing was breaking up a fight. I didnt hit anybody and I had no charges pressed against me from the police. The police was on my side. Well now the union is ignoring my calls and my texts. Just found out my job got posted last Thursday. I called a labor lawyer in Cleveland name David Young. I told him my situation and now waiting to hear from him to see if he will take my case. Dont know if he will sue Kroger or the union if he takes my case.  Has this ever happened to anyone and can anybody give me some advice. Thanks.

Was your ex-husband and guy friend also "suspended until further notice"? If they said your were not involved and were trying to break it up..... I don't see how you could be suspended like that. Make sure your calling your UFCW President, not just the Rep. If they will not respond to you, I'm sure local news might be interested in Union Members not receiving any benefits. Hell, call a "Right to Work" State House Representatives, they would love to hear Union Officials not representing their paying members :)

Yes they were suspended too. My guy friend didnt go any further with the grievance cause he was only there a year and making $8.75 and now works at Taco Bell at $9.75. My guy friend has no kids so worries on him. Now my husband never had a grievance meeting cause his lawyer put a stop to it until after his trail of assault to my guy friend and they posted his job as well. My husband was heat meat manager at another store making $18.22 and I was making $16.45 an hour. I have 3 kids that was on my kroger insurance (which is good insurance for kids). Im just pissed cause at the age of almost 49 I planned on retiring from there. I now work at a minimum wage job pulling from my savings to keep my head above water cause of my mortgage and monthly bills.  I feel the union could of fought for me harder then what they did. So thats why I turned to a labor lawyer which I hope I get news this week from David young.  I will take your advice in reaching out to the top ufcW. What sucks we was close to strike last oct and I went to three ralleys and was very involved then they do this **** to me and not protect me. My husband and I have worked almost 11 years with this company.

Maybe you shouldn't have picked up a "guy friend" at work. I can see why they let you go.

I only did that 11 years ago cause everybody said yes join the union and they will protect your job. unuon is A good thing to get into They said. Well now I wonder cause they didnt fight hard enough. Everybody including upper management is floored by them not bringing back cause Im a great worker and they miss me. I wish kroger can see that. There isnt that many more people left that have many years of experience there. Soon within the next year they are loosing about 200 years of experience cause there is gonna be 6 people retiring that have 25 plus years at Kroger. There is only 11 of us that have around 10 to 15 years ExperiencE. Now all they have left is kids that call off all the time dont know what the hell they are doing and Kroger is falling apart. The store is never stocked, its dirty, and the kids that work there have nasty attitude. Every time I go there to shop I see new faces cause there is auch a big turn over rate.  Why would kids want to work for a place that they have to wait 15 months for insurance, and work minimum wage with a 5 cent raise every year when they can go somewhere else and make more money doing the same thing?
