Paying Double

Back in February I signed up for Kroger insurance and it went into effect on the 10th of that month.  I kept on checking my pay stubs to see if payment was being taken out, but never saw the deductions for it, so I thought to myself, well maybe I just don't see it.  I wasn't super worried about it, but kept checking anyway.  Last pay period I checked my stub and it showed that I paid $59 for insurance when my total cost of my plan is $34.  I called the insurance company and asked why it was so high and the representative told me that I'm paying arrears plus the $34.  I asked him why and he said that payroll never inputted into the system to have my insurance deductions taken out until the week of March 8th.  I'm now paying back pay for basically a whole month.  Who can I talk to about this?  It's bothersome to me how I'm suffering for somebody else's mistake.  I'm getting $59 taken out of each paycheck because of this.

****UPDATE****

I'm a non union member.  Out here in the midwest we aren't apart of any unions.  Also, I'm employed by Dillons.

How are you suffering? You signed up for insurance and it wasn't deducted from you paycheck, so you had a gain of $34 for 4 weeks. Now your having to pay it, your not suffering, your paying what you should have paid.

If your not a union member than no one but kroger can really help. Also paying back pay is them just collecting what was owed to them. It's just a few extra for a few weeks then it should go back to the agreed price. It should be ok.

The Union wouldn't be even able to help in this situation, because the insurance dues are part of the contract. Think of it this way, what would have happened if you needed healthcare during that month? I'm guessing in your thought process they should have covered you too? (Which they would have).

Just take the hit, for now. This wont be the last time someones clerical error will screw you over at this company.

You probably wouldn't even have noticed if you weren't checking on it constantly. It sounds to me like you were basically expecting this to happen because you noticed they weren't taking it out when they should've been. They are just collecting the pay you owed them. Stop complaining about something you can't control. If you were in the union your medical is covered through the Union so the Union would be able to do something, but would probably agree that they are just collecting what is owed to them.
